Traveling Outside the United States

International students traveling outside of the United State should review all immigration documents prior to departure. Valid documents will be required for reentry into the United States.
  • Passport – Your passport should be valid or you will need to apply for a passport prior to attempting to reenter the United States.
  • Visa – Your F-1 Student Visa should be current and the visa stamp should state the correct immigration category that you are studying under (F-1 Student). Students traveling on expired visas will need to visit the embassy and apply for a new visa prior to attempting to reenter the United States. Students who have a Change of Status approved, and are traveling outside the United States, will need to apply for a F-1 Student Visa prior to attempting to reenter the U.S.
  • PVAMU Form I-20 - On Page 2 of your Form I-20 you must be endorsed for travel in order to reenter the United States. Once the Form I-20 is endorsed by International Student Services, the signature is good for one year. (Signature is good for only 6 months if you are on Post Completion OPT or STEM OPT.)
  • Travel Form - Students need to submit a completed Travel Form to the ISS office prior to obtaining the travel signature on their I-20.  Please click the following to obtain your travel from:  Travel Form
  • I-94 Document (Arrival & Departure Record) – It is recommended that you always travel with your most current I-94 document. To access your most recent I-94 document, please visit https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home.
  • Students who are traveling, should complete the following survey prior to returning to the University Campus:  https://pvamu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aeYK7JV1wx9QM3r
